Nevada
Nevada’s connections to the Baltic states extend beyond its diaspora communities, encompassing historical contributions to American industry, international trade, and diplomatic cooperation. One of the most notable connections in the state is Latvian-born inventor Jacob W. Davis, who developed the riveted denim pants for Levi Strauss that became modern blue jeans, establishing a lasting connection between Latvia and one of America's most recognizable industries. Of the two cities, Reno is home to the more active community organizations.
More recently, Las Vegas has hosted Lithuanian diplomatic representatives at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), while city officials have humored a potential sister-city partnership with Vilnius, Lithuania. Las Vegas's annual Consumer Electronics Show provides a venue for economic engagement between Lithuania and the United States. In January 2026, Lithuanian Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis and Consul General in Los Angeles Sandra Brikaitė visited Las Vegas for CES. Their attendance reflects Lithuania's engagement with international technology markets and creates opportunities for connections with businesses and industry representatives participating in Nevada's convention economy.
