Colorado

Colorado has active Baltic cultural organizations, academic connections to Estonia, honorary consular representation for Estonia and Latvia, and significant diplomatic, economic, and military ties to the Baltic region.

Culture

Baltic culture in Colorado is mainly preserved via familial and personal community connections. The Latvian Culture Center of Colorado in Lakewood is the state’s primary Latvian cultural hub. It supports the Latvian Children’s School “Saule,” the Denver Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Virpulītis Latvian folk dance ensemble. The center hosts educational programs, cultural events, exhibitions, and performances. Colorado has an active Lithuanian-American community centered around Denver. The Kolorado Lituanistinė Mokykla (Colorado Lithuanian School) teaches Lithuanian language, history, geography, folk art, and traditional dance. The Lithuanian-American Community of Colorado also organizes Independence Day celebrations, concerts, holiday gatherings, cultural events, and other community activities.

Academia

The University of Colorado Boulder offers students a semester-long study abroad opportunity in Tallinn through CIEE’s Estonia program. The university also maintains Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies resources for studying the region.

Diplomacy

Colorado has honorary consular representation for Estonia in Denver and for Latvia in Castle Rock. The state has also hosted Latvian officials at the Aspen Security Forum 2025, bringing direct Baltic engagement to Colorado.

Economics

The Latvian American Chamber of Commerce has an active Colorado chapter based in Lakewood. It promotes business relationships, networking, and commercial connections between Latvian and U.S. communities.

Military

The 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade (4th SFAB), based at Fort Carson, near Colorado Springs, has deployed military advisory teams to the Baltic states as part of its European missions.
