Webcast with Dr. Ronald Asmus - Opening the Doors at Prague
Dr. Ronald Asmus, one of the earliest and most principled policy pointpersons behind NATO enlargement, will be JBANC's guest in its seventh interactive webcast, to be broadcast on Monday, November 18. That same week, NATO allies will be meeting in Prague to issue invitations to up to seven new potential members, including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Asmus, whose book "Opening NATO's Door" is being published in November, has been a Senior Transatlantic Fellow since September 1st at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. At the same time, he is Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Previously, Asmus served at the State Department as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs under Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott, who has noted in his book, "The Russia Hand", that Asmus was instrumental in influencing the administration and by working closely with "NSC staff and the Pentagon on bridging subtle differences within the alliance and profound ones between NATO and Russia."

The webcast is scheduled to take place from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. EST. Asmus will be fielding questions which can be submitted here.
